Jimmy
Tran.

Cybersecurity & analytics, with a finance lens.

B.B.A. candidate in Computer Information Systems at Georgia State University, Robinson College of Business, concentrating in Cybersecurity. I do structured, hypothesis-led work at the intersection of data, security, and capital markets, and I'm seeking a role where I can do that under real constraints and real stakeholders.

Profile

Structured thinker.
Generalist by design.

I read every problem the way a consultant or analyst would: define the question, structure the approach, gather evidence, and land on a defensible recommendation. That habit was built through four years of independent research before it ever showed up on a transcript.

My academic core is Cybersecurity within a business school, which means I think about risk, controls, and incentives, not just code. The work I'm proudest of so far, behavioral finance research and blockchain market analysis, sits at the intersection of capital markets, security, and applied analytics.

I'm targeting internships in strategy consulting, investment banking, cybersecurity, and data / quantitative research, with a strong preference for teams that move fast and write things down.

The case for the candidate

What I bring to the engagement.

Four claims, each with the underlying evidence.

01 · Method

Hypothesis-led analysis.

I structure problems before I touch the data: state the question, decompose drivers, choose the smallest test that rules things out. Both my behavioral finance and Solana market research projects ended in defensible, evidence-backed conclusions, not narrative.

Python Exploratory Analysis Pattern Recognition
02 · Mindset

Adversarial mindset.

A Cybersecurity concentration trains me to read every system the same way: where does it break, who benefits, what control prevents the breach. That lens transfers cleanly to risk review, due diligence, threat modeling, and second-line oversight work.

Risk Assessment Threat Modeling Controls Review
03 · Track Record

Demonstrated leadership.

Four years leading the financial division of a research club is four years of running working sessions, structuring deliverables, and converting team disagreement into a single recommendation. That maturity is uncommon at the undergraduate level.

Team Leadership Stakeholder Communication Project Coordination
04 · Reliability

Reliable execution.

3.67 GPA and Dean's List signal sustained delivery under load. Beyond that: same-day email response, feedback absorbed without friction, and the ability to translate technical work for non-technical stakeholders, a habit built through years of leading research presentations to mixed audiences.

Dean's List Coachable Crisp Communication
On Hiring · A Note to Recruiters

The case for the P.S.D. candidate.

"PSD stands for Poor, Smart, and a deep Desire to become rich, a hiring philosophy coined by Alan "Ace" Greenberg of Bear Stearns to prioritize driven, hungry talent over traditional, high-pedigree résumés."

Hiring lore, Wall Street, attributed to A. Greenberg
P

Poor

I am not insulated by inherited capital or an alumni network. Every interview I get is one I have to earn on the merits. That asymmetry produces a higher motivation per dollar of comp than the typical pedigree hire.

S

Smart

3.67 GPA, Dean's List, and a Cybersecurity concentration within the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. The transcript holds up to scrutiny, and so does the underlying curiosity that drives it.

D

Deep Desire

Four years leading a research team while still in school. Self-directed work in behavioral finance, blockchain market structure, and applied analytics. Currently preparing for CompTIA Security+ and AWS Cloud Practitioner. None of it was assigned.

Greenberg, who ran Bear Stearns for two decades, famously selected for character and drive over institution. He built one of the most aggressive trading floors on the Street that way. That is the wager I am asking you to make.

Experience

Four years of leading. Ready for industry.

A leadership track record that already produces deliverables under deadline pressure.
